Concert Review
Blondie’s performance at the Isle of Wight Festival 2023 proved that true legends never really fade away. Fronted by the iconic Debbie Harry, the band delivered a vibrant and nostalgic set packed with classic hits and a few modern surprises.
The show kicked off with the punchy “Hanging On The Telephone,” instantly setting the tone with its raw new-wave energy. The crowd response was immediate, and the band wasted no time launching into the timeless anthem “Call Me,” which had thousands of festivalgoers singing along.

One of the most memorable moments came during “Rapture,” where the band leaned into the groove and reminded everyone just how influential Blondie was in blending punk, new wave, and early rap elements decades ago.
The setlist balanced classic hits with later material, including “Maria” and “Doom Or Destiny,” giving the performance a nice mix of nostalgia and modern relevance. During “Atomic,” the band introduced their musicians, including a special highlight: legendary bassist Glen Matlock, known for his work with the Sex Pistols, bringing a bit of punk royalty to the stage.

Another fun surprise came with a short “God Save The Queen” jam, which injected a playful punk moment into the set and got the crowd roaring.
Of course, no Blondie show would be complete without the shimmering disco-pop magic of “Heart Of Glass,” which turned the entire festival field into one giant dance floor. The closing stretch with “Fun/Denis” and “Dreaming” wrapped the performance in pure classic Blondie energy.
While the band understandably plays at a slightly more relaxed pace these days, the spirit, style, and charisma that made Blondie one of the most influential bands of the late 70s and 80s are still very much alive.
